‘Ties That Bind: Love in Fantasy and Science Fiction’ made the BSFA Longlist.

Just a quick announcement about this non-fiction collection published by Luna Press Publishing about love in SFF, which I just found out made the BSFA Longlist. Quite good news indeed (disclaimer: I have authored one of the papers, “Shades of Unrequited Love. Broken hearts and amour de loin in Japanese manga and anime.” If you love Devilman, Versailles-no-Bara –aka Lady Oscar— and Berserk, and you’re interested in discovering demonic influences and queer undertones in their narrative, you might want to take a look).

But this collection offers so much more than that, featuring writers such as Cheryl Morgan, AJ Dalton, and Barbara Stevenson among others and covering an amazing range of topics, from Hoffmann to Human-A.I. relationships and chivalric novels from 15th Century Catalonia.

To know more and to read the abstracts of the papers, visit the publisher’s website or go the BSFA Award page.
