Teaser Tuesday (11 December)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted at The Purple Booker.

Anyone can play along by doing the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.

The man who would one day become the most powerful in England was of such humble origins that nobody could be sure where or when he was born.”

(~Thomas Cromwell: The Untold Story of Henry VIII’s Most Faithful Servant by Tracy Borman, Kindle Edition, 2016)

[A non-fiction book about the (in)famous Cromwell, who, since Hilary Mantel’s ground-breaking historical novel, has come back to the limelight. The biography -albeit its somehow misleading title -is well researched and engaging, and Thomas comes out as the character he really was: enigmatic, brilliant, unconventional, at times scaring, always fascinating. Check out the Guardian for a review of Borman’s book.]

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays’ post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in The Purple Booker.

Yes… having LOVED Hilary Mantel’s first two books about Cromwell, I’d be interested to know just how closely she followed his actual life. Thank you for a great teaser:)

It is quite good actually, very well documented and written. If you appreciate TC, I highly recommend it. 🙂
