All is ready for Mars InSight Lander.

NASA’s next mission to Mars is a go, already on the launching pad. The probe is InSight Mars lander, which is scheduled to lift off from California’s Vandenberg Air Force Base on Saturday 5 May in the morning.

Contrary to other famous missions, such as OpportunitySpirit and Curiosity, Insight will be a stationary probe. Its task will be to go into the Martian soil’s depths, studying its composition and tectonics. The mission will also make use of CubeSats, the tiny spacecraft which, for the first time, will fly beyond Earth’s orbit.

A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket will send the new Martian probe into orbit.

You can watch it live on NASA TV, beginning at 6:30 a.m. EDT (1030 GMT).
