Teaser Tuesday (4 July)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted at The Purple Booker.

Anyone can play along by doing the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

“I feel as if I have walked into a mirrored room and glimpsed myself from an unfamiliar angle for the first time. Is that really what I look like? Is that who I am?”

(~ An Officer and a Spy by Robert Harris, Kindle Edition, 2013)

[ A compelling historical novel of conspiracy and espionage – the infamous Dreyfus Affair. If you like the genre, this is well worth a reading.]

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in The Purple Booker.

That does sound interesting. Oddly enough I read a book about Dreyfus by the author I’m featuring today on my intro teaser, Paulette Mahurin. Hers was called To Live Out Loud and was excellent. This is definitely going on my TBR list. Here’s my link for today from Mahurin’s The Seven Year Dress: http://wp.me/p4DMf0-1xk

Mirrored rooms are definitely surreal…that feeling is terrifying. Thanks for sharing, and here’s mine: “SWIMMING LESSONS”

I’ve heard of this one – Robert Harris is a much-respected historical novelist who somehow has eluded me to date. I think I need to track this one down, Steph – thank you for sharing. My offering this week is the final book in a trilogy I’ve thoroughly enjoyed… https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/07/04/teaser-tuesday-4th-july-2017/

Yes, I had imagined you knew the name, Sarah, considering it’s well in your domain. Worth a reading for sure 🙂

“A harsh tone sounded, and a blue light blinked on the panel in front of me, beside the fuel indicator. An instant before the indicator had read nearly full. Now it read empty.” From “Ancillary Justice” by Ann Leckie. It’s taking me a while to get into this novel because the world is so very, very different from anything I’ve read before. It reminds me of “Mission of Gravity” in that regard.

I liked that one – read it because it was included in one of the Hugo voting packages a couple of years ago. Hope you’re enjoying it.

It’s definitely different, but I’ve gotten quite attached to One Esk.
