Teaser Tuesday (March 15)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

That’s my choice of the day:

Don’t give it to them all at once, make them work for it. Confuse them with detail, leave things out, go back on your tracks. Be testy, be cussed, be difficult. Drink like a fish; don’t give way on the ideology, they won’t trust that. They want to deal with a man they’ve bought; they want the clash of opposites, Alec, not some half-cock convert.”

( ~ The Spy Who Came in from the Cold by John le Carré, 1963, Kindle Edition)

[Note: Probably my favourite spy novel of all times. This must be the fifth or the sixth time I read it, and I still find something that surprises me. A masterpiece of the genre together with great literature.]

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in A Daily Rhythm’s blog.

Oh that’s a real classic:) You’re right – it’s a gem. I loved it when I first read, longer ago than I care to recall. Whereas my offering this week is a newly minted arc, but I think could be right up your street in the form of a James Lovegrove military science fiction romp… https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/03/15/teaser-tuesday-15th-march-2016/

Yes, I remember going through a big LeCarre kick. An author who knew his subject matter!
