XXI CENTURY SCI-FI – Neptune’s Brood by Charles Stross

Neptune’s Brood (2013) is a SF novel by Charles Stross. The story is set in the same universe of Saturn’s Children, but 5000 years later and with different characters. It features clones, bank-employed historians, assassins and the fantastic water-world of Shin-Tethys. Differently from many other novels of the same genre, it raises the fundamental question of how to cover the (huge) expenses required by space colonisation. A space opera with a post-human population, Neptune’s Brood was shortlisted for Best Novel in the 2014 Hugo Awards.
