(Awesome) videos about space

I have recently come across some amazing videos – and here they are! Definitively worth watching.

The first is a “visualization explores the Orion Nebula using both visible and infrared light. The sequence begins with a wide-field view of the sky showing the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy, then zooms down to the scale of the Orion Nebula. The visible light observation (from the Hubble Space Telescope) and the infrared light observation (from the Spitzer Space Telescope) are compared first in two-dimensional images, and then in three-dimensional models.`’

The second is a  simulation of a view taken from theMilty Way’s  galactic centre, where massive stars orbit the centre of the galaxy from a distance of about 1.5 light-years. The 360-degree simulation starts 350 years in the past and moves forward 500 years, according to an accompanying statement. Simply awesome!

Amazing, truly amazing! And there is something to be said about the combination of classical music and images from space: they are indeed made to blend wonderfully together… 🙂
