…and here we are: finally! The most awaited movie of the year is out next week, and the early reviews are glowing. “A gigantic spectacle of pure hallucinatory craziness.” This is how The Guardian entitled its article, which you can read here.

I’m not that surprised, to be honest, but you never know (everybody still remembers how bad things turned out with The Matrix, right?), so I have to say I’m relieved to hear /read how good this one is. After all, Blade Runner for me is “the” movie, the one I’d take with me if I had to leave Planet Earth and I had to choose only one.
I believe the plot of Blade Runner 2049 is widely known by now, but here it is. “Officer K (Ryan Gosling), a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who’s been missing for 30 years.”
The Guardian writes that “the 2017 follow-up simply couldn’t be any more of a triumph: a stunning enlargement and improvement.” With Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) as a director and Ryan Gosling as the new blade runner, the quality certainly is sky-high. And there’s always old good Deckard…
I am already booked for October 6, lunchtime screening here in Edinburgh. I can’t really wait for that moment. In the meantime, here’s trailer #2.
