Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
“A large military establishment may, like a great monument, look imposing to the impressionable observer. But if it is not resting upon a firm foundation (in this case, a productive national economy), it runs the risk of a future collapse.”
( ~The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers by Paul Kennedy, 1987, Kindle Edition)
[Note: Not a fiction book, but in some chapters it reads like one. Paul Kennedy is an exceptional historian, and in his mammoth book about the world’s dominant nations between 1500 and 2000 provides great insights about our civilisation. Recommended especially for people with a taste for historical and military fiction.]
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in Books and a Beat’s blog.
