Teaser Tuesday (July 5)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I don’t mind your showing me your legs; they’re very swell legs and it’s a pleasure to make their acquaintance. I don’t mind if you don’t like my manners; they’re pretty bad. I grieve over them during the long winter nights.”

( ~ The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler, 1939, Kindle Edition)

[Note: A real classic of crime novel, creating one of the most interesting detectives of the genre, Philip Marlowe. Not surprising, it has been named among the 100 best novels of the century.]

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in Books and a Beat’s blog.

Great teaser. I really should start reading more of the classics and based on the teaser this should probably be one of the first I pick up 🙂

Oh this brings back very many happy memories a long, long time ago:)). I LOVED Raymond Chandler when a teenager and read everything of his I could get my hands on. So glad you loved it, too! I think you might find my TT this week really interesting, if you haven’t already read it… https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/07/05/teaser-tuesday-5th-july-2016/

“Sax landed his little plane on the sandy strip on top of the promontory. From here, the ice plains were not visible; nor could he spot any vegetation — not a tree, not a flower, not even a patch of lichen.”
