Done -yesterday night just in time I finally validated my wordcount: 51,299 – otherwise said, I made it. It has taken a lot of efforts, three trips to the UK Midlands (train is such a perfect place to write, provided you book your place in advance with a table and a power socket) and two weekends of monastic isolation… but well, now it feels like it was worth it.
Compared to last year (my first NaNo) 2015 was more difficult because I knew I could do it and I started later than I should have. After that it has been a constant struggle to make it up for that missing week. But it was also easier, because I attended some events / gatherings with fellow writers (last year I was overseas for work), and that was a real incentive to keep working.
One thing has remained the same though: I haven’t the vaguest idea of what doing with my SF 50K – this time I had not even thought about a title. Eventually I’ll figure out something… For the moment, the only thing I really fancy is sleeping.
Before I go crashing on my bed (again) for a morning nap, I’d like to thank my fellow NaNoWriters, in Edinburgh and elsewhere, for the great support offered, and congratulate everybody that accepted the challenge this year. You won anyway, you reached your 50K or not.
