Milford 2019

This week I am attending Milford Conference, the yearly gathering with other writers from the SFF community that takes place at Trigonos, Snowdonia (North Wales).

As usual, things are both intense and pleasant, with the morning devoted to writing or just enjoying the landscape, crits in the afternoon, and the evenings all for lively chats in the library. This is my second time (I first attended in 2017) and I’m happy to see again old friends and meet new people. What’s really great about Milford is that you can ‘test’ the concept of your novel or story pitching it to quite a varied audience, and the feedback you gather, positive and not, is really valuable.

Moreover, since you have to crits about 10,000 words x 15 participants, you end up learning a method for it, which proves something incredibly useful for the future. This is probably why people (including me) keep coming back for more. The settings (Snowdonia is a beautiful place) and the excellent cuisine they offer here at Trigonos is part of the charm.

For more information about Milford and for booking your place for the next conferences (or the writing retreats in spring) you can visit the website here. Happy writing!
