Teaser Tuesday (30 July)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted at The Purple Booker.

Anyone can play along by doing the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.

She accepts the world as it is and the world accepts her thus; she is not mastered. What is done to her cannot confine what she will do.”

(~ The Monster Baru Cormorant, Seth Dickinson, 2018, Kindle Edition)

[This is the sequel of the amazing first novel, the Traitor. It has been defined as a geopolitical fantasy, but it far more than that. People who follow this blog know that I’m not a huge fan of fantasy, but Seth Dickison has created one of the most interesting characters of speculative fiction I’ve ever met, neither hero nor villain -and exquisitely human. The sequel lives up to the first book, adding a level of complexity to this dark universe. A must read!]

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays’ post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in The Purple Booker.
