Blood Moon 2018: Total Lunar Eclipse on July 27

Are you excited? You should. There is a total lunar eclipse coming up just in two weeks -on July 27, to be precise – which is going to be the longest of the century and the first central lunar eclipse since June 15, 2011. This is not a detail: the Moon will pass through the centre of the Earth’s shadow, make it visible in many parts of the planet (not everywhere, though. Check here for the details).

I said longest, and I mean it: the total phase of the “blood moon” eclipse of July 27 will last 1 hour and 43 minutes, during which the Moon will turn into that spectacular red or ruddy-brown colour we use to know. Moreover, taken from start to finish, the entire celestial event will last nearly 4 hours.

If you are among the lucky ones to be on the blessed side of the Earth, get ready for a treat. Otherwise, switch your devices on and watch it online.
