Teaser Tuesday (15 May)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted at The Purple Booker.

Anyone can play along by doing the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

“They seek him here, they seek him there /Those Frenchies seek him everywhere. /Is he in heaven or is he in hell? / that damned elusive Pimpernel.”

(~ The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emma Orczy, Kindle Edition, 1905)

[An absolute classic of historical fiction, I’ve seen it in theatre before actually reading it. The story is well known even though not everybody read the novel. It’s a pity, because  Percy the Pimpernel predates many superheroes under disguise and it is a delight to read even now.]

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays’ post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in The Purple Booker.

Good teaser! I hadn’t thought about The Scarlet Pimpernel in a while.

Oh, how I loved these books when I was a teenager!
Thinking about it, that’s where my love for heist stories and daring escapades must have been born… 🙂

It’s been a long time since I read this. Don’t remember much. Now I’m curious about to see if I’d enjoy it now.

If you have opportunity to read it again, let me know. I must say I enjoyed even more 🙂

It’s a proper blast from the past – I don’t like to think how many years ago I read this – but I do recall being very impressed with The Scarlet Man himself… A great teaser, Steph!

Yes, for me is sort of kid memory. I remember growing up with the Scarlet Pimpernel on the TV. Then I wanted the book… 😀
