Anyone can play along by doing the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
“Both my parents died in political intrigue before I turned five years old; a fact you might have researched. Did you think you were dealing with an amateur?”
(~ The Vor Game by Lois McMaster Bujold, Kindle Edition, 1990)
[There are many excellent books in the Vorkosigan Saga, but this one remains one of my favourites, probably because it’s the first I’ve read. I hooked me instantly and forever to this writer and this amazing universe, let alone to the main character, Miles. I’ve loved him as a kid and even now it remains one of my heroes. Incidentally, if you haven’t read (yet) anything of the Saga, that’s not probably the one to start with: there are a lot of references to things that happen before and you might easily get lost. The Warrior’s Apprentice is probably a better start since it portrays Miles’s history. But make sure you read this one, too. It’s great. By the way, The Vor Game won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1991.]

I still haven’t read this author but I will do eventually. Great teaser.
Lynn 😀
You won’t regret it, I promise 🙂
I love her books, but I haven’t read this one. Something to look forward to!
This is a great one, Miles at his best! 🙂
Miles forever!!!!! 🙂
The Vor Saga might be the only series I’ve read more than once, and it never tires me.
Thank you for reminding me of one of my favorite characters ever 🙂
You’re welcome! I have read/loved him for so long that at times I might think I know him better than a real person 😀
I just read “Falling Free” in the last year and loved it. Bujold Is a Minnesota author and well known (and loved) in the Twin Cities. Wish I could say that I’ve met her — she is a member of a writing group that another writer acquaintance attends. That’s as close as I get! I’m looking forward to reading more of the Vorkosigan saga!
Wow, I didn’t know these details. How lucky are you? 🙂 Hope you eventually meet her.
Oh yes! This is a wonderful book – I LOVE this series and if I was ever going to reread anything – it would probably be this series, Steph. Thank you for featuring such a lovely book!
I perfectly agree. I am re-reading it right now 🙂
What a treat:))
What a lovely treat:)
