Teaser Tuesday (19 December)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted at The Purple Booker.

Anyone can play along by doing the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

It was titillating to brush up against the enigma of mortality, to steal a glimpse across its forbidden frontier. Climbing was a magnificent activity, I firmly believed, not in spite of the inherent perils, but precisely because of them.”

(~ Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Everest Disaster by Jon Krakauer, Kindle Edition, 1997)

[One of the books the movie Everest has been based upon, it is a fascinating, even though not always objective, recount of what happened during that fateful May 1996. A reading I recommend to anybody interested in travel/exploration literature. ]

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays’ post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in The Purple Booker.

Umm, no! I really can’t understand why anyone would want to climb a mountain. This week I am featuring Now That You Mention It by Kristan Higgins. Happy reading!

I asked myself this question many times. I fear heights, to be sure, but I’m a technical diver, and depths can be as treacherous… so I understand the spirit. 🙂

Of course it’s the danger that makes it fun. That and the bragging rights.

What an interesting quote. I’ve heard a lot about this book but I haven’t read. This extract does tempt me, Steph – many thanks for sharing. My offering this week is an apocalyptic adventure by a surprising author… https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/12/19/teaser-tuesday-19th-december-2017/

I remember a quote about Everest. “I didn’t go up there to die. I went up there to live.” I can grasp that meaning. Watched a couple of documentaries about this. I’d like to read the book too.
