Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
“The historian becomes a beachcomber and a treasure-seeker, a raiser of wrecks, a diver of the deep. Scoring the seabed to recover what was lost.”
(~ Vanished Kingdoms: The History of Half-Forgotten Europe by Norman Davies, Kindle Edition, 2011)
[Note: This book, written by one of the most talented historians of our times, reads almost like a fantasy novel. The past here is more than a foreign country, is a dreamland full of dangers and magic spells. ]
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in Books and a Beat’s blog.
Ooo… this sounds absolutely fabulous, Steph. In fact Himself is buying it for me as I type:)). Thank you for sharing! Here is mine – I’m not sure if you’ve read this one, but it is huge fun – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/11/08/teaser-tuesday-8th-november-2016/
Yours was great – on my read list too. 🙂
Sounds interesting. I don’t read much history, but I might make an exception. Thanks for sharing it. My Teaser
Thanks for sharing yours!
History that reads like fantasy sounds like the kind of wonderful book one can get lost in!
Thank you so much for bringing it to our attention! 🙂
🙂
That does sound like an unusual read, thanks for sharing, here is my teaser for The Good Kind of Bad
🙂
Thanks, going to have a look at it!
Fact that reads like fantasy. I could do that despite my dislike of nonfiction. This week my teaser comes from Belle Chasse by Suzanne Johnson – the 5th in the Sentinels of New Orleans urban fantasy series. Happy reading!
Thanks – I love New Orleans since visiting the city a couple of years ago. A great place, and perfect for fantasy of any kind!
Whoa! I think I need to try this one. Such powerful writing. And I enjoy reading about history.
My TT from The Scorpio Races
Norman Davies is a treat. Scorpio Races – I like the title, going to check it out!
