Teaser Tuesday (July 19)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!images

Human beings are so destructive -I sometimes think we’re a kind of plague, that will scrub the earth clean; we destroy things so well that I sometimes think, maybe that’s our function. Maybe every few eons, some animal comes along that kills off the rest of the world, clears the decks, and lets evolution proceed to its next phase.”

( ~ The Lost World by Michael Crichton, 1995, Kindle Edition)

[Note: Less famous than Jurassic Park, even among Crichton’s die-hard fans, including me. However, at a second reading, it’s proving more conceptually rich and scientifically accurate than the other. To be recommended to anybody appreciating good techno-thrillers.]

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in Books and a Beat’s blog.

I haven’t read this Crichton. Can’t particularly argue with that teaser. 🙂

I’m with Beth. And I’ve read several similar statements. Makes you wonder….. I enjoyed this book.

No – I haven’t read this one. But it certainly is tempting, given the tease – thank you for sharing. And swinging by earlier. Yes… I would recommend Solar Express – it’s well written and the worldbuilding is solid. I like the steady buildup of tension without any extra bells or whistles.

I haven’t read this one or Jurassic Park. I’ll have to add them to my list. My teaser this week comes from Rock Wedding by Nalini Singh. Happy reading!

Thanks, Kathy – I have to say I prefer this one to the more famous Jurassic Park (contrary to the movies). Thanks for the teaser.
