Teaser Tuesday (April 19)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

That’s my choice of the day:

città-invisibili-350x350-px

Cities, like dreams, are made of desires and fears, even if the thread of their discourse is secret, their rules are absurd, their perspectives deceitful. And everything conceals something else.”

( ~ Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino, 1972, Kindle Edition)

[Note: Another classic of uncanny beauty – probably one of the most fascinating books I have read in my whole life. I’ve also tried to read it in as many different translations I was able to access, which proved me that if you have a masterpiece, any language would do, word magic included.]

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in Books and a Beat’s blog.

This sounds like a fascinating book – I have never encountered it. Is it sci fi?

No, literary fiction, but a visionary one. An amazing book
