2 years and counting…

Yes, this week makes two years of blogging for The Earthian Hivemind – two years I’ve enjoyed a lot and had the opportunity to get to know amazing people online, especially fellow bloggers. They contributed to make this experience positive under any point of view, offering also comments and much needed advice. Thank you all!

I would have liked to come out with some statistics here, but since I’ve moved to a self-hosted blog I can’t use that nice feature of WordPress that does it for you. On top of that, as I made the jump mid-year, I have to combine two non-comparable sources, which it’s a sort of headache, even without obsessing about methodological details (I do).  So no stats this year – apart from easy ones like roughly 12,000 views, EHM143 posts, visitors between 5,800-6,000 (closer to the second, but can’t say exactly how many).

What’s in the future: a stack of books on my desk and even more in my kindle, which means reviews, and a few events to attend in 2016. All my 2015 plans in this sense have been gamma-ray blasted by a earthquake-like occurrence, the birth of my daughter, which meant a lot of sleepless nights at home instead of stargazing or attending conventions. This year I’m going to take her with me, maybe dressed like Darth Vader (homage to The Force Awakens).

I’ve also some other ongoing projects and collaborations, but I’ll talk about that later in the year. As usual, if you have any proposal in terms of subjects I should cover here (remotely connected to speculative fiction and/or sciences, which are the main topics of this blog) please do get in touch.

Congratulations:). I really enjoy reading your blog, Stephen and you’re doing a grand job, given you now have a baby… It’s not so long ago I was juggling the demands of tiny grandchildren who frequently stayed and at times lived with us, so I’m aware just how much time they take. Have a wonderful and successful 2016!

Many thanks, I can’t even imagine how demanding grandchildren can be… one little baby, and I’m completely exhausted 😀

Two years is huge, especially in the ever changing world of blogging. AND having a baby rocks your world and shakes everything up, so kudos to keeping the blog going. I never would have been able to blog with babies, I don’t know how people do it. (My babies are teenagers now:-))

Congrats on two years! And I know how it is with babies…we welcomed baby #2 early this year as well and it does throw your whole schedule into a loop! We just gotta find time to catch some sleep when we can, right? 🙂 Things might be on hold for a while, but sooner or later, she’ll be accompanying you to conventions and Star Wars movies and having a blast 🙂
