For personal reasons (read: baby daughter) I had to cancel my attendance at Sasquan (SF Worldcon 2015) … thus I am determined now to make the best of my stay at home during this summer and enjoy the amazing Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and, more specifically, my favourite part of it – the Book Festival. Here a photo gallery andย a few highlights:
As I have mentioned in a previous post, the event takes place in the second part of August (15-31) and it is hosted in the best (for me) area of Edinburgh, New Town, namely Charlotte Square, in a nice and friendly setting.
It was impossible to go aroundย and walk out without buying something…
And, cherry on the cake, there are literally dozens of events every day. The one I am attending in two days time will be on Sunday – in what I can call the best SF moment of the festival – with Ken MacLeod reading Iain Banks’ poetry.
I can’t really wait! ๐
Oh this looks like fun! Plus, Edinburgh!
Yes the city is fun, especially during summer …! ๐
This does look interesting, may see if I can get a ticket, thanks for the tip! Though, maybe sold out by now. ๐
Hope you get one, but yes, I expect many people there, also because it’s Ken MacLeod doing the reading ๐
I haven’t been to Edinburgh – but, it’s on the list! Eventually, all good things to those who wait.
Looks great and, yes, it would be rude not to buy something whilst you were walking around! (Let’s just keep telling ourselves that anyway).

Lynn, you’re so right…! I keep buying books when I already know I’ve a “waiting list” of months by now…but can’t help ๐
