SF Classics – Rendezvous with Rama

Rendezvous with Rama (1973) is a novel by Arthur C. Clarke, set in the 2130s in the Solar System. Rama, initially mistaken for an asteroid, is instead a mysterious alien spacecraft in the shape of a 50-kilometre spinning cylinder, that a mission from Earth decides to investigate. One of the most famous books of the genre, Rendezvous with Rama has won many awards, including Hugo and Nebula for the best novel. Recommended to lovers of hard SF.

Thanks for this reminder — a title for me to tackle in 2015, I think. Appropriate after 2014’s rendezvous with a comet!

I loved it. It’s a fantastic, easy read but stays with you for years and years. Isn’t there another one?

You’re right – and there’s actually a series, that Clarke wrote with another writer. But haven’t read it.
