SF Classics – The Forever War by Joe Haldeman

The Forever War (1974) by Joe Haldeman is a military science fiction novel, telling the story of William Mandella, a soldier of the United Nations Exploratory Force that fights an interstellar war against the alien Taurans. Widely believed to be a sci-fi interpretation of the Vietnam War (which Haldeman fought), it’s always put in comparison with the other famous military SF masterpiece, Heinlein’s Starship Troopers. If war stories, in space or not, are your genre, this is a must-read book. The Forever War won both the Nebula(1975) and the Hugo Award (1976).
