The Day of the Triffids (1951) by John Wyndham is a post-apocalyptic, sci-fi horror novel where mankind, with the exception of the protagonist, Bill Masen, has been blinded by a mysterious meteor shower. To make things worse, the world is invaded by a deadly, aggressive, man-made species of plants, the Triffids, that feed on human flesh. Weirdly reminding some recent zombie stories, especially its opening sequence in a London hospital, which allegedly inspired 28 Days Later.
I love Day of the Triffids – zombie plants! Zombie, mobile plants! Zombie, mobile plants that can communicate with each other. I’ll stop now!

Hello Lynn,
yes you’re right – and when I watched 28 Days Later I could not avoid thinking about it. Love this book too. š
