Eastercon 2014 – almost there!

Glasgow 18-21 April 2014, in what promises to be a great event.

Puzzled? Eastercon (http://www.eastercon.org/index.php/Main_Page) is just another name for the British yearly science-fiction convention, and as the name says, it is held over the four days of the Easter break. (Not since the beginning though: until the 1960s the conference period was during the end of May bank holiday).

What I like about it is that it is not a conference – even if you always have eminent speakers: this year Terry Pratchett should attend – but a place to meet people with your same interests, chat and share. For 2014 the bid was won by Satellite 4 so if by any chance you want to join, it is on their site that you can buy the membership (http://satellite4.org.uk/).

This year UK looks like a blessed country for sci-fi lovers. In addition to our Eastercon, in August 2014 the Worldcon, the 72th Sci-Fi World Conference, will be organised in London (http://www.londonin2014.org/).

Something tells me this summer I am going to give staycation a fair try….
