Space Features of the Week (26 August)

As usual, some newsclipping from recent space and tech articles to keep us sharp. I haven’t done it in a while (blame holidays) but now I’m back on track.

Mighty Antares

All stargazers know Antares. It is easy to locate a star that is (on average) the fifteenth-brightest star in the night sky, and the brightest star in the constellation of Scorpius. Now, and more importantly, astronomers have produced the most detailed ever images of a star that’s not our Sun – and they’ve chosen Antares. The new images, produced using the European Southern Observatory in Chile, are the most detailed yet of the surface and atmosphere of a star beyond our solar system. Read the article here.

Astrophysicists Predict ‘Earth-Like’ Planet In Star System Only 16 Light Years Away

This is a claim I’m a bit sceptic about – unless it means “the very very same conditions”, othersiwe I don’t see the hype;  the reading itself is fascinating, though. Have a go, here it is.

How will a real spacesuit look like?
