The eclipse…from Europe

The most amazing event of the year will be generally lost to Europeans – but people in the British Isles will have a remote chance of getting a glimpse of it. As it stands, a partial eclipse will be visible in the UK at around 7.40pm on Monday.

Not a great deal, I agree. If you really want to get it all, you’ll need to go to the States, where the eclipse will be a total one – the first there since 1979. “It will travel across a 70-mile wide path, stretching from Oregon to South Carolina. It will last almost three minutes, during which temperatures will fall and the sky will darken as the moon blocks the sun.” (See the article for more details).

In any case, make sure you’re fully equipped for it – watching an eclipse is dangerous: here you have advice for safe observation.

Well, here in Minnesota we had overcast skies and it was already dark before the time of the eclipse! We were supposed to have an 83% eclipse today, but unfortunately, the cloud cover and rain obscured it. Ah, well.

Oh darn! So sorry to hear that. 🙁 Hope you managed to get at least a good view on the media… that’s what I’ve done.

NASA had some spectacular photos! A couple friends traveled to Nebraska to see the eclipse. Haven’t finished reading their account but it sounded like quite an experience.

We could barely seen the eclipse here in the Southern hemisphere…. How about you?…
I have, however, seen some extraordinary pics… not only in the News… But from some amateur photographers on blogs and Instagram… Sending love & best wishes 🙂
