Teaser Tuesday (31 January)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted at The Purple Booker.

Anyone can play along by doing the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

“A dead man is the worst enemy alive, I thought. You can’t alter his power over you, you can’t alter what you love or owe -and it’s too late to ask him for his absolution. He has beaten you all ways.”

(~Our Game by John le Carré, Kindle Edition, 1995)

[Note: Le Carré is one of my favourite authors, and his spy novels are top of the genre. This one makes no exception, even though I’m finding it more literary than some others – but by no means less entertaining. ]

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in The Purple Booker.

I haven’t read John le Carre for a very long time – but I used to love his books:). Glad you’re enjoying this one, Steph.

Yes – there was a time when they were as popular as psychological thrillers are now!

You know, I don’t think I’ve ever read a book by this author and I like spy stories too. Looks like I have another author to add to my list. My teaser on my adult blog this week comes from A Darkness Absolute by Kelley Armstrong. Happy reading!

I love le Carre and have been working my way through his novels. Haven’t gotten to this one yet. I’m thankful that he’s written so many!

    Here’s my Teaser:
“At the word ‘bastard’ his heart moved painfully, as when a man in love hears a stranger name a flower which is also the name of his woman. “Bastard!’ the word filled him with miserable happiness.”

Thanks Cinda! And I love Greene, too – another great writer (and a real-life spy, too).
