Blindsight by Peter Watts

Blindsight (2006), by Peter Watts, is a hard SF novel of first contact with a unique twist. It asks difficult questions about the nature of consciousness and what it means to be humans. Nominated for a Hugo Award for Best Novel, a John W. Campbell Memorial Award for Best Science Fiction Novel, and a Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel, it got a sequel in 2014. Available for free reading on internet.

    I still have a copy Blindsight on my shelf – one of the last physical books I acquired before turning to the Dark Side of the digital 😀 I need to get to it soon, because I keep hearing great things about it.
