Waiting for Juno

Next week, July, 4th, the spacecraft Juno will finally enter Jupiter’s orbits after five years in space. Juno’s objectives for this mission are to better understand  the origin and evolution of Jupiter, analysing its solid planetary core, mapping its mighty magnetic field, and collecting imagery and data for further studies.

While we’re waiting, let’s enjoy some amazing videos about space exploration.

  1. Voyagers, by Santiago Meneghini using real photographs and real plasma frequencies, is a tribute to 1977 Voyager 1 and 2 missions. The two probes are still out there, by now in interstellar space, having both visited Jupiter and Saturn, with Voyager 2 having a look at Uranus and Neptune too.

2. Huygens-Cassini’s descent to Titan’s surface. This movie was built with data collected by ESA’s Huygens Descent Imager/Spectral Radiometer (DISR) on 14 January 2005, during the 147-minutes plunge through Titan’s thick orange-brown atmosphere down to the landing.

3. Alien Oceans. This video belongs to the NASA 360 Talks, and discuss the possibility of life in the Jovian moon of Europa (one of the most likely places in the Solar System) with some stunning imagery.

Happy viewing!
