Teaser Tuesday (January 26)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

That’s my choice of the day:

13872

Can you be happy with the movies, and the ads, and the clothes in the stores, and the doctors, and the eyes as you walk down the street all telling you there is something wrong with you? No, you cannot be happy, because, you poor darling baby, you believe them.”

( ~Geek Love by Katherine Dunn , 1989, Kindle Edition)

[ Note: Albeit its title, this is not romance. Actually, I’m not sure what it is – not straight horror either. I would say it’s one of the best examples of speculative fiction I’ve recently seen, and I couldn’t put it down until the end. But it gave me the goddamn creeps, too – consider yourself warned.]

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here and/or in A Daily Rhythm’s blog.

You said my stop word – horror. I’ll be passing this one by. My teaser today comes from Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen by Lois McMaster Bujold. Happy reading!

Hello Kathy, I would say this is quite a special kind of horror, but still… I like your author, I’ve read a few books and keep coming back

Hm. This sounds really intriguing, Stephen… Is it all gore and guts, or creepy and skin crawling horror?

Hello Sarah, if you like good horror, this is a treat – I would say of the second type (creepy as hell). It made me think about that old Tod Browning’s movie (Freaks) in more than one way.
