2312 (2012) by Kim Stanley Robinson is a SF novel about a (relatively) near future of interplanetary colonisation. Humanity has spread across the whole Solar System, settling down by many different means, from biomes in hollowed-out asteroids to cities on Mercury. An intriguing and visionary story of conspiracy theories and geopolitics beyond Earth. A must-read for anybody enjoying a political flavour of speculative fiction. That’s not coming as a surprise, considering that as Robinson’s books have been labelled as “the gold-standard of realistic, and highly literary, science-fiction writing”.
