One year of blogging

Today is my first birthday as a blogger. The Earthian Hivemind was online first on December, 16 2013, just giving a flash report on Yutu, the Chinese Jade Rabbit on the moon. Only few lines, but I had to start somehow.

This year has been an amazing experience, enriching under any aspect. I would like here to take the opportunity to thank all the fellow bloggers that have helped me during these months, with observations, comments and precious suggestions. I have learnt so much from them, and I hope to count on their support for the future. I will do my best to reciprocate and offer some positive contributions.

Something about blog statistics (I can’t help, I am a professional statistician, after all…). Some topics have proved more popular than others. First of all, exoplanets. I guess it’s because they are of interest both to science-lovers and to SF writers (and readers), which are anyway my intended audience. Book reviews have ranked as another popular subject, and I’ve met some great people thanks to them. Also, I found Netgalley and Goodreads to be fantastic sources for ideas and ARCs to review.

What next? A couple of things for the future. 2015 will be a busy one for many reasons, space exploration first. I can’t wait for New Horizons’ first data transmission in January, that will give us a glimpse of Pluto from completely new perspectives. Also, I am going to write more about anime&manga, especially re: the Gundam multiverse, which is the only one that can rival somehow the complexity of Star Trek. And SF conventions, of course. And yet more books…

Finally, if there’s a topic you want to suggest, please do. I am always open to new subjects, provided I know enough about them to be able to contribute something meaningful. So no romance or any stuff too philosophical please. SFF&H and science-based topics remain a much safer ground 🙂

Ohh, I don’t know, I bet you could do a good bit of philosophising on here! I always enjoy the book reviews thanks.
    And happy birthday.
    Lynn 😀
