SF Classics – Steel Beach by John Varley

Steel Beach (1993) by John Varley, is a sci-fi novel where humans now live on the Moon after an alien invasion. Steel Beach, this is the name of the colony, is a sort of utopian, free-love society run by a Central Computer. Psychosis and other behavioural issues, as expected, abound. Often compared to Robert A. Heinlein, Varley has been called by Tom Clancy “the best writer in America” and has won Hugo and Nebula awards more than once.
